M8 x 18.5 (3.1-5.5) Steel Flat Head Knurled Rivet Nut
Product Details
Rivet nuts sometimes called rivnuts or nut inserts are ideal to be secured into a box section component where access to secure a fastener is limited. Once compressed using the rivet nut applicator available separately, it will be secured into place within the parameters of the thickness of the component its is being secured onto. The thickness of the component needed is listed in brackets above.
Rivet nuts are made from steel, aluminium which is softer to compress or stainless steel. The head sizes can vary from countersunk, standard flat, flange head or a wider head diameter. Also available as plain sides, knurled for extra grip, slotted, hexagon, closed end or as a stud.
Steel rivnuts are usually bright zinc plated to prevent corrosion, stainless steel will vary from A2 to A4 materials or there are aluminium ones which are lighter and easier to compress. It’s worth being aware that mixing different material can potentially cause fusion between the component and the nut inserts, so choosing the correct rivet nut to match the application and the fasteners being used must be considered.
