M12 Weld Nut Hex DIN 929 Self Colour

These hexagon style weld nuts DIN 929 are made for welding nuts onto components which need a fixed fastener especially in places when a nut cannot later be accessable when components are assembled.  In addition, considering they will be welded these weld nuts are suitable in areas when high heat is likely to be on the components. 

It is still important to get the correct tensile strength for the application its being used for as either a higher tensile strength or lower tensile strength may be suitable although weld nuts are usually classed as grade A. It is important so always check suitability for specific applications.  Once the fastener has been disassembled it’s advisable to replace all components such as the fastener nuts and washers together with the set screws or bolts as these will likey be exposed to heat they can become distorted over time and not providing a truly secure fastening. Also fasteners over time will experience stretching of the threads of when it was tightened up plus the likely constant movement may cause fractures causing weakness to the fastener. Tightening strength and torque is worth checking for critical applications to prevent movement of the material under certain stress conditions.

These are self colour fasteners which is ideal for welding but does not have corrosion protection so where viable they are best protected with a coating after they are secured onto the component the weld nut is being attache to. Bear in mind using different materials can cause fusing through corrosion especially in damp conditions when mixed with aluminium or stainless steel materials.
