M6 Wing Nut UNI 5448 BZP

The wing  nuts UNI 5448 are ideal when a nut needs to freely be used to secure bolts or studs by hand so they can easily be assembled or undone without the need for any tools.  These are great in situations where wing nuts can be used where adjustments of items regularly need to be made such as sliding bars or simply to change from one part to add another part to give the assembled item a different function.  To share the load it is recomended that a flat washer is used and to prevent the full nut to come undone due to elements of vibration or movement a locking washer is also used such as a spring or serrated washer but may be more difficult to undo by just using fingers.

It is important know over time fastener threads will experience stretching it was tightened up plus the likely constant movement may cause fractures causing weakness to the fastener. Tightening strength and torque is worth checking for critical applications to prevent movement of the material under certain stress conditions.

These are bright zinc plated fasteners which is a preventative measure from corrosion.  Avoid breaking into the bright zinc plating usually abbreviated as bzp as this will cause faster corrosion if not covered with a corrosive protected material as in time this will weaken the fastener.  Also bear in mind using different materials can cause fusing through corrosion especially in damp conditions when mixed with aluminium or stainless steel materials.
